Celebrating Scottish Architecture since 2012
Since 2012, the RIAS Awards have celebrated and championed outstanding architecture across Scotland, showcasing the creativity, ambition and quality of the profession.
Over the years, RIAS Award-winning projects have demonstrated just how varied Scottish architecture can be, from a moveable microhouse on the Isle of Skye to an outdoor pool pavilion in Aberdeenshire and a new facility for women in custody at HMP & YOI Stirling. Short-listed projects have included Scotland’s first Passivhaus-certified primary school, impressive new buildings for Scottish universities and a new headquarters at the home of Scottish golf.
The Awards also celebrate the sensitive transformation of Scotland’s historic buildings, from the conservation of a Category A listed castle on the banks of Loch Ness, to contemporary homes that respond creatively to their landscape, including a sculptural new-build home wrapped around an existing rockface in the Outer Hebrides. In Edinburgh, a mixed-use waterfront destination has even brought a fresh architectural approach to distillery design.
These outstanding projects reflect the breadth of work taking place across Scotland and the important role architects play in shaping the places we live, work and visit.
